Nepal Visa Information

Nepal Visa on Arrival & Tourist Visa Fees Guideline

Planning to explore the Himalayas or ancient temples or go on a once-in-a-lifetime trek in Nepal? Good news—Nepal offers Visa on Arrival for most international travellers, making it one of the easiest countries to visit in South Asia. Whether you’re coming for adventure, spirituality, or leisure, this guide provides everything you need to know about the Nepal tourist visa process, including fees, eligibility, and entry points.

What is a Nepal visa on arrival?

A visa on arrival means you can obtain your tourist visa directly at the airport or border entry point without applying in advance. It’s a straightforward process that welcomes travellers with minimal paperwork and hassle.

Nepal offers this facility to citizens from most countries at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu, and several land border crossings.

Important Note: During peak travel seasons (spring and autumn), queues at TIA can be long. To save time, complete your application online before arrival.

Required Documents for Nepal Visa

To get your visa quickly and without issues, prepare the following:

1. Valid Passport

  • Must have at least 6 months of validity from your date of entry.

2. Completed Visa Application Form

You can fill this out in two ways:

  • Online (Recommended): Complete your form at the official Nepal Immigration Portal within 15 days of arrival. Print the confirmation with the barcode.
  • At Arrival: Use digital kiosks at the airport if you haven’t filled it out online (can take longer).

3. Passport-sized Photograph

  • Usually one recent photo is required (just in case, bring extra copies).

4. Visa Fee Payment

  • Payment must be made in cash (USD preferred) at the counter. Cards are not always accepted.

Nepal Tourist Visa Fees (On Arrival)

Nepal offers flexible tourist visa durations based on your travel plans:

Visa DurationFee (USD)

30 Days$50
90 Days$125

You can extend your visa later if you decide to stay longer.

  • Minimum 15 Days: USD 45
  • Each additional day: USD 3
  • Overstay Penalty: USD 5 per day
