This full-day guided tour takes you from the ancient lanes of Bhaktapur Durbar Square, where medieval architecture and timeless traditions still thrive, to the peaceful ridge of Nagarkot, where the sun dips behind Himalayan giants in a show of golden light.

Perfect for history buffs, photographers, and travellers short on time, this experience brings together the living museum of Bhaktapur and the panoramic mountain views of Nagarkot in a relaxed, single-day trip. You’ll wander through cobbled streets, taste local Newari delicacies, and end the day watching the sunset over the Langtang, Ganesh, and Everest ranges (on clear days).

It’s a day that reveals Nepal’s cultural depth and natural beauty—without the need for trekking boots or altitude prep.

Itinerary

Morning: Discover Bhaktapur (Pickup around 9:00 AM)

Your guide and driver pick you up from your hotel. The morning is spent wandering through the majestic Bhaktapur Durbar Square, visiting famous landmarks like:

  • 55-Window Palace
  • Nyatapola Temple (Nepal’s tallest pagoda)
  • Vatsala Temple
  • Dattatreya Square & Peacock Window

Enjoy stories of ancient kings, local festivals, and timeless crafts.

Midday: Newari Lunch Break

Take a break in a local courtyard restaurant and enjoy a plate of ‘Samay Baji’ or Newari-style lunch. Optional: try locally brewed rice beer (‘Chyang’) if you’re feeling adventurous.

Afternoon: Scenic Drive to Nagarkot (approx. 1.5 hrs)

After lunch, you’ll drive uphill through peaceful countryside to Nagarkot, perched at 2,175 meters. Once a royal retreat, today it’s one of the best spots near Kathmandu for wide-angle Himalayan views.

Evening: Nagarkot Sunset Experience

Settle in at the Nagarkot View Tower or a quiet ridge-top spot. As the sun begins to dip, the snow-capped peaks catch fire—turning gold, then crimson, then fading into twilight.

After sunset, drive back to Kathmandu (approx. 2 hrs.).
Drop-off at your hotel by 7:30–8:00 PM (depending on traffic and sunset timing).
